Erasable writing instruments
Erasable writing instruments have been around for many years. We are all familiar with the good old graphite lead pencil. Ink presents an altogether different problem when it come to erasing. Many wet inks penetrate the paper to which they are applied so they cannot be rubbed off. Any attempt will cause a hole in the paper! Unless the ink is formulated to be erased, it is pretty permanent and subject only to fading from light exposure over time.
M&G have produced erasable writing instruments for years. The erasable ball pens, code AEP13571 and AEP89476 were the mainstay of the range along with the erasable highlighter AHM21978 until recently. While good, these ball pens relied upon ink removal from the page and this was never 100%. The advent of heat sensitive ink changed that.
M&G’s R&D over 3 years included even shipping temperature control experiments to prove product stability and reliability. We remember being sent pens in a box by sea freight with a temperature gauge to record the temperature variations while at sea.
One feature we found useful was the position of the eraser, on the cap, not as a barrel end plug like some competitors. Many people place the cap onto the end of the barrel while the pen is in use so with the eraser on the cap, it is easily accessible.
M&G i-erase II erasable gel ink pen is the latest in a long line of erasable writing instruments from M&G. Available in 3 colours, it covers the key requirements of the home, office and school. The ink is heat sensitive, changing chemically when heated or cooled. The friction cap will provide the necessary heat to erase the ink when rubbed over the ink vigorously.
